Itinerary

07:00 Hrs. Pick up from hotel lobby and depart to Ayutthaya Town, (1½ hour’s drive) North of Bangkok. Visit to Bang Pa-In Summer Palace, was first used by the royal court as a summer retreat in the 17th century. Most of the buildings that exist today date from the reign of King Rama V, who regularly spent his summers there. The structures represent a variety of architectural styles, set in a large park around ponds and waterways.

Continue to Ayutthaya Historical Park covers the ruins of the old city of Ayutthaya, Thailand, which was founded in 1350 and was the capital of the country until its destruction by the Burmese army in 1767. The area well conserved as a historical park, has been included in UNESCO’s list of World Heritage since 13 December 1981. Visit to Phanancherng Temple, contains the oldest large cast bronze Buddha image in Ayutthaya.

Visit to Maha That Temple, believe that was built before the Ayutthaya Period or around the 14th Century. One of the images which were excavated by the Fine Art Department was a Buddha Image in the Sitting Attitude. This image belonged to the Lopburi Period.

Visit to Phra Si Sanphet Temple, the most important temple within the Royal Palace compound and the original from which the Temple of the Emerald Buddha in Bangkok has been copied. Three outstanding Ceylonese style pagodas were built during the 15th century.

Visit to Mongkol Bophit Temple, The large hall of the sacred Phra Mongkhon Bophit; one of the largest bronze Buddha images in Thailand with its measures of (approx) 9.5 meters across the lap and a height of 12.5 meters. This building has been restored and new designed by Prince Naris, the younger brother of King Rama V.

Visit to Yai Chaimongkon Temple, features a large reclining Buddha in saffron robes in its own ruined wiharn, and, most spectacularly, a huge chedi swathed in golden cloth set in a courtyard which is lined by Buddha images all wearing saffron robes.

Continue to Chaiwatthanaram Temple, one of the most imposing ancient Buddhist monasteries, was established by the command of King Prasatthong in 1630 A.D. The architecture was similar to that of Angkor Wat and inferred that the wat might have been built to commemorate the king’s victory over Cambodia.

Then transfer to the hotel for check in, free at leisure.

08:00 Hrs. Pick up from hotel lobby and depart to Lopburi Town (1½ hours drive) North of Ayutthaya. Visit to Phra Prang Sam Yot, best known landmark and provincial symbol. A former Hindu Shrine built in the 13th century in the classic Bayon style of Khmer architecture. Nearby visit to San Phra Kan, the Lop-Buri style prangs was built around 1157 when the town came under Khmer rule.

Continue to Phitsanuloke Town and visit to Phra Sri Rattana Mahathat Temple, one of Thailand’s most beautiful temple houses and significant Buddha images; Phra Phutta Chinnaraj.

Depart to Sukhothai Town (1 hour drive). Visit to Sukhothai Historical Park; the first truly independent Thai Kingdom, visit the ruins of the Royal Palaces, Buddhist temples, the city gates, walls, moats, dams, ditches, ponds canals and the water dyke control system which was the magical and spiritual center of the Kingdom are now preserved and restored by the Fine Arts Department with the cooperation of UNESCO

Then transfer to the hotel for check in, free at leisure.

Overnight: Sukhothai

08:00 Hrs. Pick up from hotel lobby and depart to Srisatchanalai Historical Park, (1 hour drive) its ruins lie on the right bank of the Yom River, one of the best examples of a Thai Muang, it was laid out along fixed cosmological lines – temple complexes lay at its heart, surrounded by city walls, rivers and forest.

Then drive along the mountainous road to Lampang Province (2 hours drive). Ride a unique colorful Horse Carriage around the Lampang town. Visit Baan Sao Nuk; a 150 years old teak house in northern Thai style and Phra Kaew Don Tao Temple, where the famous Emerald Buddha was enshrined for 32 years (from A.D. 1436 to 1468).

Depart to Chiang Mai town (2 hours drive). Then transfer to the hotel for check in, free at leisure.
